KAIAA LIKES IT SQUEAKY CLEAN
When it comes to cleaning your household the natural way, there are a few oils you can’t go wrong with. It is not necessary to have a whole collection of cleansers that contain a variety of potentially harmful chemicals, which can corrode your skin and irritate your airways. KAIAA chooses natural and homemade remedies. For cleaning, choose the following oils with antimicrobial and antiseptic properties:
- lemon essential oil
- essential oil of true lavender
- tea tree essential oil
- sweet orange essential oil
- peppermint essential oil
WHAT DO I NEED?
You really don't need much to bring natural cleanliness into your home and minimally expose yourself and your household to harmful chemicals. Cleaning can be easy, with easily accessible and affordable ingredients. Before cleaning, you will need, depending on the recipe, some of the following:
- essential oils
- glass bottle with spray (plastic and essential oils do not get along well)
- jar with a lid
- distilled water (tap water will do, too)
- alcohol vinegar
- Baking soda
- vodka or 70% ethanol
- olive or almond oil
Having all the ingredients, here are a few simple recipes to enjoy your clean home even more.
LEMON – A little black dress of your essential oils collection
Use this multi-purpose cleanser on various surfaces (kitchen worktops, tables or shelves), wipe floors or glass surfaces. Mix the following ingredients in a glass spray bottle and shake well before use:
- 250 ml of alcoholic vinegar
- 500 ml water (distilled or tap)
- 30 drops of lemon essential oil
Caution: if you have marble surfaces in your home, do not clean them with this mixture as it can leave stains or damage them.
BATHROOM ANTIBACTERIAL CLEANER
To restore cleanliness and freshness in your bathroom, try this natural mixture. You will need the following ingredients:
- 15 tablespoons baking soda
- 15 drops of lemon essential oil
- 15 drops of tea tree essential oil
- alcohol vinegar in a spray bottle
In a jar mix well baking soda with the essential oils. Once you have combined this dry mixture, sprinkle it over the bathtub, sink and toilet bowl. Spray vinegar over the crumbly powder mixture. This will cause a foaming reaction- let it foam for a few minutes, then scrub and rinse the rest of the mixture. What you don't use in one cleaning, save for the next time.
SPARKLING WINDOWS AND MIRRORS
We all love spotless windows and mirrors; it leaves the impression of cleanliness to the whole space. For clean and shiny glass surfaces and mirrors, reach for this simple natural cleaner. All you need is a mix of these ingredients in a spray glass bottle and shake well before use:
- 250 ml of distilled water or tap water
- 250 ml of vodka or 150 ml of 70% ethanol
- 125 ml of alcohol vinegar
- 15 drops of peppermint essential oil
- 15 drops of tea tree essential oil
Once you spray this mixture on your glass surfaces or mirror, wipe them in a few strong strokes. To avoid traces of wiping, you can use paper towels or lint-free cloths.
KITCHEN DEGREASER
Kitchen is often the most difficult space to maintain cleanliness, but with this recipe you can simplify the cleaning routine:
- 250 ml of alcoholic vinegar
- 25 drops of lemon essential oil
- 10 drops of essential oil of true lavender
Mix vinegar and essential oils in a glass bottle, shake well and spray on the stove and other parts of the kitchen accumulating grease. Let the mixture sit for 5 to 10 minutes to dissolve the grease, then remove it and repeat the process if necessary. In case of stubborn deposits, you can add 3 to 4 tablespoons of biodegradable dishwashing detergent to the mixture, to enhance the effect.
THE ESSENTIAL GLOW OF THE WOOD
Wooden surfaces need to be maintained and cared for well in order to keep their best shape for as long as possible. With this simple recipe you can clean, restore shine and give tempting scent to your wooden furniture:
- 4 tablespoons olive or almond oil
- 4 tablespoons alcohol vinegar
- 20 drops of sweet orange essential oil
Shake the ingredients well in a closed jar until the mixture is combined well. Rub it with a cloth to all your wooden surfaces: wooden floor, wooden kitchen surfaces, tables, shelves and cabinets. Vinegar will do the cleansing, and olive or almond and sweet orange essential oil will bring shine and a pleasant scent.
